Our Story
This is the part when we could tell you our story and maybe show you a picture of our office dog, but most importantly, we need to show you that you can trust us. That we care about what we do: we’ll do a great job and you’ll be in safe hands.
We know that buying a kitchen can be overwhelming. All the doors, the colours, the worktops, appliances, model number, dates and costs. So many choices.
We understand.
The big thing about us is we’re not too big. There’s twenty of us in the team, split across three stores in Brighton and Hove, Horsham and Guildford. We’ve generally worked in the company for a long time, whether it’s a highly experienced designer like Cat, or a trusted fitter like Dave. We want to get it right and for the last twenty years, that’s all that’s mattered to us.
Our job is to support and guide you to create an exceptional new space. That’s why you would entrust a professional kitchen designer like us.

The Kitchen Store was founded by Alan Margetts in 2004 and he still leads the business today. In 2005, the team secured their first Investors in People accreditation, going on to achieve Silver and Gold over the coming years.
As TKS grew, we needed more space, expanding into a larger showroom and office space in Lancing. In 2013, we opened our Brighton & Hove store, followed by our Horsham site in 2016. Our team expanded with the company, encompassing both our wonderful design team and stellar FIRA Gold accredited installers.
Since 2019, we have worked with Nolte and Masterclass, our carefully-chosen German and British kitchen manufacturers. We’ve chosen to work with them exclusively because they deliver high-quality, innovative and beautiful cabinetry, every time.
Our Guildford site opened its doors in 2023, bringing with it a new team and new ideas. Now 20 people strong, we’re excited to continue learning from the wonderful team who make up The Kitchen Store and deliver beautiful kitchens, time after time.
We are proud to be the only independent retailer in Sussex to hold the FIRA Gold Installation Certification for the quality of our installation.

Our showrooms
Our four large kitchen showrooms really set us apart and display a great selection of fitted kitchens to browse and draw inspiration from. From contemporary and modern to traditional, timeless and classic, there’s something to suit all tastes. Right down to the finishing touches, you’ll get a realistic idea of how your new kitchen could look.
We offer the full kitchen service. Our friendly kitchen designers and planners take you on a journey from idea right through to completion and the final detail.
We are aware of the responsibility we have to ensure that our business is sustainable, which is why we ensure that our furniture manufacturers are PEFC certified.
PEFC care for forests globally and locally, working to protect our forests by promoting sustainable forest management through certification. This means we can all benefit from the many products that forests provide now, while ensuring these forests will be around for generations to come.
