Our Story
Welcome to The Kitchen Store! This is the part where we’re supposed to share our story—maybe even throw in a photo of the office dog for good measure.
But honestly, what matters most to us is you. We get it—choosing a new kitchen can feel like a whirlwind. Doors, colours, worktops, appliances, budgets, timelines… it’s a lot. And that’s why we’re here: to make the process simpler, smoother, and dare we say, enjoyable.
We’re a close-knit team of 20, with stores in Brighton and Hove, Horsham, and Guildford. Most of us have been part of The Kitchen Store family for years—whether it’s talented designers like Cat or expert fitters like Dave, we’re proud of the experience and care we bring to every project.
For over 20 years, we’ve been creating beautiful, functional spaces for our customers. From brainstorming ideas to managing every detail of the installation, we’re with you every step of the way. Our passion is turning your vision into a space that truly works for you and your home.

The Kitchen Store story began back in 2004, sparked by a bit of serendipity. While on holiday in Cape Town, our founder, Alan, came across a cutting-edge showroom known as Kitchen Clinic. It was light, bright, and inviting—a space that managed to be effortlessly modern while remaining warm and welcoming. The kitchens were undeniably stunning, but what truly set the showroom apart was the experience it offered. Customers felt at ease, browsing at their own pace, often stopping to chat with designers who struck the perfect balance between professionalism and approachability. These designers, clearly passionate about their craft, created a laid-back yet attentive atmosphere that made the process enjoyable and inspiring. The space itself exuded energy and creativity—a blend of style and substance that felt refreshingly different.
At the time, Alan worked at a contract kitchen manufacturer, and that visit planted an idea: why not bring those same high-quality kitchens into a modern retail setting, with a real focus on exceptional customer service? A few months later, our first showroom opened in Lancing, West Sussex.
From the start, people have been at the heart of what we do. In 2005, we earned our first Investors in People accreditation, cementing our commitment to fostering a strong and supportive team culture. That ethos has guided us through every step of our journey as we’ve grown steadily over the years. Our Brighton & Hove showroom opened its doors in 2013, followed by Horsham in 2016, and most recently, Guildford in 2023. Along the way, we partnered with Nolte Küchen and Masterclass Kitchens—trusted names in German and British kitchen design—because we believe in working with manufacturers who share our passion for innovative, high-quality cabinetry.
In 2020, we expanded into the commercial world with TKS Projects, collaborating with regional developers to deliver bespoke kitchens on a larger scale. Our first major milestone? Supplying 130 kitchens for Bayside Apartments, a stunning 14-storey development in Worthing.
Through it all, our team has been the driving force behind our reputation for beautiful kitchens and excellent service. We’re proud of how far we’ve come and excited about where we’re going. For us, it’s all about combining quality craftsmanship with a personal touch—and creating spaces you’ll love for years to come.
